Colic insurance is SO important!

That's Skip under the blanket, and that pink stuff is his intestine!

After a long weekend at a horse show, my friend's horse colicked during the drive home. We sped to the nearest vet clinic (nearly three hours away), and by the time we arrived, Skip was in very bad condition. The vet confirmed that Skip had a twisted gut, and that he would need immediate surgery. Luckily my friend had major surgery insurance, and all she had to do was make one phone call to her agent.

The agent told her everything was covered, and the vet had Skip on the surgical table less than 30 minutes later. All ended well...they untwisted the gut, flushed it with clean water, and found no "dead" pieces to remove. The gut was healthy and pink and Skip could look forward to a great recovery!

I attached some photos so you could see the incredible surgery...I'd never seen one before, and it was amazing!
